And Another Thing

We are going to the polls on Tuesday in this state and being asked whether we should constitutionally ban gay marriage, and whether we should reinstate the death penalty for the first time in 150 years. We are not voting on school funding reform. We are not voting on which plan we prefer to make sure all our children have medical coverage. No, apparently the most pressing issues for our state are the "gay marriage threat" and how to kill our prisoners. So now you all want to move here, right? Because everything else is going so well?

I really need to get to sleep.

Good luck w/ the results.

Politics is so depressing sometimes.

Be of good cheer, Carrie. Stupid laws can be overturned, and 41% in a state where "faggot" can still be the worst insult imaginable is not horrible.

My guess is, there will be a phase change, just like there was about casual racism, and it will happen quickly (although not necessarily soon).

The sad thing is, the majority of the people who will be hurt by the ban are heterosexual couples who live together (with or without children) and are not yet married. THEY are the ones that are going to suffer, right along with the homosexual couples and THEIR children.
